Dropping Sly to daycare, but make it fashion
If Tyra Banks’ meme-worthy outbursts on America’s Next Top Model have taught us anything, it’s that any mundane activity can be made fashion. Proving this theory true over a decade later is supermodel supreme, Emily Ratajkowski.
While the My Body author is a perennial proponent of making the streets your runway, with the 32-year-old constantly offering up new-season ensembles in the boroughs of Manhattan, her latest look is evidence that irrespective of the occasion, throwing on a flawless outfit makes the world of difference.
After a quick jaunt to France for Paris Fashion Week, the podcast host has returned to her usual routine; parading around SoHo and running errands with her two-year-old son, Sylvester.
To drop Sly off at daycare, Ratajkowski looked to a head-to-toe archival Dior ensemble from John Galliano’s tenure at the brand. It’s safe to say that we’ve never seen a more chic pre-school run.
Released in 2004—which I’ll lament to have come out while I was in kindergarten—the look features all the hallmarks of Galliano’s era; logomania and a cut that’s a little bit noughty.
The entire monogrammed ensemble consisted of a blue denim jacket styled as a shirt, with the collared top almost buttoned up to completion, save for the first and last buttons.
Juxtaposing the blue colourway, Ratajkowski sported a pair of low-waisted red capri pants. Perfect for trotting around New York with your toddler in tote.
However, despite the nearly 20-year-old set, Ratajkowski opted for a pair of new season, albeit vintage-inspired, LOEWE ballet runners.
